hot and friction saws

Large Friction Saws
Used for friction cutting cold carbon and alloy steels, usually multiple pieces. Finer tooth pitches used to generate frictional heat during cutting. High pressure cooling and clearing of teeth and generous body cooling is vital to blade operation.

Large Hot Saws
Used for cutting red hot carbon and alloy steels (over 750°C). Larger tooth pitch, possibly with extra gullet clearance, to prevent filling in. High pressure cooling and clearing of teeth and generous body cooling is vital to blade operation.

Blade Materials:
POWERBLADE Carbon, Manganese Steel, normalised body 22 HRC with flame hardened teeth 42 to 46 HRC. Tough crack resistant blade body combined with hard wear resistant teeth, to provide considerably increased blade life between sharpens compared to medium carbon manganese steel blades.

Size Range:
1000mm to 2400mm diameter (39 to 94 inches)
6mm to 16mm thick (0.236 to 0.63 inches)
Tooth Pitch 5mm to 28mm (0.2 to 1
1/8 inches)

Tooth Profiles:
Standard profile is 60°Peg used for both hot and friction cutting
Special tooth form for specific applications
60°Peg with land - friction cutting steel tube

Blades are precisely machined, levelled and tensioned to ensure even balance, vibration free running and accurate cutting at speeds from 4267 to 7620 m/min (14000 to 25000 ft/min)

Small Diameter Friction Saws
350mm to 1200mm diameter (14 to 47 inches)
Used for friction cutting of small steel tubes and sections.

Materials:
Chrome Vanadium Steel or Tungsten Molybdenum Steel usually over 600mm (24 inches)
Hollow profiled for clearance
Standard peg or special tooth forms
